Data privacy statement

We at AidNation (“AidNation”, “we” or “us”) believe it is vital to protect your privacy when you access the information on our website. That is why we want to tell you what we do with your personal data, in particular how it is processed, disclosed, secured and deleted.

1. Personal data

Personal data (“data”) refers to all data relating to a particular individual or identifiable person. You trust us with your data when you donate to a fundraising campaign, subscribe to our newsletter or take part in an information campaign (e.g. a quiz). Usually you just give us your name, address – including the postcode, town and country where you live – telephone number, e-mail address and date of birth. We also record your IP address.

We also record your IP address, location, navigation and click stream data, and data provided by cookies. We can also record how long you spend on our website.

Personal data associated with to financial transactions (e.g. credit card data) is not transferred to us. This data is used according to the data protection rules and regulations of the websites and platforms responsible for handling this data.

We only send you information if you have given us your consent to do so. And you can change your mind any time and contact us to tell us you no longer wish to receive it. To unsubscribe, just send us an e-mail or click on the link in our newsletter.

We also record the information of those applying for a job with us. Of course, we do not keep data any longer than is legally permitted.

2. Data use

We aim to provide you with the information that you have subscribed to receive and to make available services which we believe improve our websites. This is so you can have more information about how your donation is used. We do everything we can to ensure that your personal data is protected.

By accepting these data protection regulations you agree to us collecting, storing and using your personal data for the following purposes:

● so you can use the services offered on our websites
● so we can send you our newsletter, if you have given us your express consent to do so
● so we can evaluate, adapt and improve our services and content
● so we can prevent any illegal activity

3. Data transfer

In principle, we do not disclose your data to third parties. However, there are exceptions, for example when we have a legal obligation to do so. We may also pass on your data to the following people:

• one of our service companies, if you have requested their services
• third parties who provide services for us, e.g.:

On a fundraising day, donation pledges are received by volunteers via AidNation’s online donation platform and are processed by the organisation. This information is, however, is not used further in any way, and is not stored any longer than the law allows.

4. Cookies and similar technology

We also use cookies to improve the quality and security of our services and communication. Cookies are small data packages which are transferred between computers; they collect details (sometimes IP addresses) which help us to provide you with information on the basis of your preferences and settings, and to improve your security on the web.

We also use cookies and similar technology (retargeting from Google, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter) for personalized content and advertising.

For analysis we use Google Analytics. According to Google, the information collected by Google Analytics remains anonymous. Visitors to our website are therefore not identified personally.

The IP address allows Google Analytics to identify the country, region and town or city in which the visitor is located.
Google Analytics’ data protection provisions can be accessed and time upon your request . If you don’t want Google Analytics to record your data, contact us . An opt-out cookie will be activated and your data will no longer be recorded when you visit our website.

5. Security

We take technical and organizational measures in order to protect the data you give us against unauthorized processing. We improve these measures continuously, keeping them up to the latest technical standards. However, even with state-of-the-art technical measures, it is unfortunately not possible to protect data entirely.

Particularly sensitive data, for example bank details given to us in a fundraising campaign, are collected directly by our partners; please refer to their data protection regulations.

6. Data destruction

We only save your data for as long as the law allows us to. Thereafter, all data is deleted. The details of unsuccessful job applicants are also destroyed within the period stipulated by law.

7. Right of appeal and questions on data protection

You can, of course, appeal against the use of your personal data at any time. You just need to inform us, either in writing to AidNation , Werdstrasse 60, Zurich 8004 or by e-mail.
